XXIV International Scientific Conference (School) on Marine Geology

From April 11 to 15, the XXIV International Scientific Conference (School) on Marine Geology in memory of Academician A.P. Lisitsyn is being held at the Institute.

Due to coronovirus restrictions, the School was rescheduled from November 2021 to April 2022.

About 200 people came to the School, many of them participate in the conference online.

The geography of the School is as always extensive: from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Vladivostok to Kaliningrad, from Murmansk to Rostov-on-Don and Gelendzhik. Unfortunately, our foreign colleagues could not come, but we received a greeting from Professor Heidi Kassens (GEOMAR Helmholtz Center for Ocean Research, Germany).

The conference is dedicated to the memory of the founder and permanent leader of our School, Academician Alexander Petrovich Lisitsyn, who died in February 2020. And many speakers spoke about the development of scientific ideas of Academician Lisitsyn in marine geology. Also, the grandson of the academician, Alexander Petrovich Lisitsyn, as well as his cousin Alexander Pavlovich Ettinger, came to the opening of the School.

At the conference, the first two days were devoted to plenary reports on the most diverse oceanological and not only topics. And in the following days the conference meets in eight sections.
